At Melissa Fortier, RD, I am committed to providing services that are accessible, inclusive, and respectful of the dignity and independence of all individuals, including those with disabilities. I strive to ensure that everyone can access my services and website without barriers.

My Commitment

I am dedicated to:

  • Providing services in a manner that respects the independence, dignity, integration, and equal opportunity of persons with disabilities

  • Communicating in ways that are accessible and considerate of individual needs

  • Ensuring my virtual practice, including the Practice Better client portal, is accessible and usable by all

  • Complying with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code

  • Offering services in both English and French to meet the language needs of the communities I serve

  • Creating a welcoming and affirming space for people of all body sizes, abilities, genders, sexual orientations, and identities—including individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour)

  • I recognize that accessibility goes beyond technology—it also includes fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.

Website Accessibility

I strive to make my website accessible to all users, including those using assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, voice recognition software, and switch technology.

Efforts include:

  • Clear navigation and layout

  • High-contrast text and backgrounds

  • Alt-text for images wherever possible

  • Simple, readable fonts (Fraunces, Helvetica, and Poppins)

  • Ongoing review to align with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA

If you encounter any difficulties while using my website, I welcome your feedback and will do my best to resolve the issue promptly.

Accessible Communication

Upon request, I can provide:

  • Intake forms and written materials in accessible formats (e.g., large print or plain language etc.)

  • Support with completing documents

  • Services delivered with accommodations (e.g., slower pacing, alternate communication methods)

  • Services available in both English and French

  • Phone appointments if virtual sessions are a barrier
